Fireplace Warmth by Alina Morozova

Turn on our chandelier honey

I’ll make us some tea

Bring that old blue blanket you like

Let’s sit down by the fire

warm, cosy and alone

so you can smooth me with your eyes

and teach me our memories

help me to remember better what we are

those details that make a difference

instead of being assaulted by them

kidnapping my whole mood for the day

remind me to grow up

once again and forever

remind me to choose better

carefully picking smiles instead of melancholic endeavours

or metaphoric dream gas castles

rebuild my emotional spine

and build back the blocks of my heart

I so unabashedly destroyed

Stitch my tissues together again

I will try and learn not to rip them anymore

I love you so much my dear

Thank you for holding my hand

I promise I’ll be a better person

And honour who you are

who we are.

So sit with me by this fire

and help me to remember

again I am here for you

My heart is only yours

I choose to surrender.
