#57 Fire

Tease by Carol Ann

I like to spread sparkles

To plant hopes and wishes

To flee from the unconventional

To dare and tease a bit

To go and step on the line

To touch the red button

Feel the vibration of the maybe’s

But as soon as someone crosses it

As soon as the fire ignites

I run away with fear

that I lose control over my feelings

senses, actions, mind, body

So I run away from you

So you can’t reach further for me

Hiding behind a thick curtain

Occasionally discreetly peeking out

just to see if you’re still there

I can much more easily create fires

not so talented on extinguishing them

so I touch and run

flirt and disguise

but don’t take me wrong

It’s just me, my unworthy thoughts

How could I believe you felt the same?

Not a possibility in my brain

So I run not to get hurt

though I wish I’d stay

Letting this fire consume us both.
